Well some of you may have noticed that I have been a little bit absent lately and for this, I do apologize, but it is for very good reason. My husband and I have just purchased our first home! We are over the moon excited and cannot wait to get into our first home! We have been renters for far too long! I cannot wait to put my own touch and look on this house and time is going so slow that I am afraid it maybe going backward.
We are 30 days away now, though! In preparation for our move, I have been spending a lot of time on Pinterest and I am really into the whole farmhouse decor look. I thought I would take this opportunity, as my craft room is being packed away to share with you all some of my favorite DIYs from other talented bloggers. These are some of the DIYs that I hope in incorporate in our new home. I hope to one day look back on this list and see just how many of these I did do.
The first thing I hope to change is the front door. Right now it is that builder basic door. My favorite style of door is a craftsmen style. Something like this….

These doors are quite costly so this may be something that might not happen right away. Unless of course, I can score one second hand from the ReStore or something.
Another dream is a gable timber wood arch over my front door.
Again, something that may not happen right away.
Let’s move on to the entryway.
I don’t have a lot of space so I am thinking of doing a small slender farmhouse style table. I love these pictures and are going to use them for inspiration. image via: @homedecormomma

One of the things that attracted us most to this house was the kitchen. It is all brand new, so there won’t be much that we have to do. However, there isn’t much space for a table. I found this really neat idea on Pinterest from Sawdust 2 Stitches and I love it! A great alternative for people that don’t have a large dining area.
Another DIY that I really and I mean really want to do is a scallop accent wall in my daughter’s bedroom. I saw this one on Fixer Upper and fell in love!! Any Fixer Upper fans, here? Chip and Joanna are my favorite! Take a look at this gorgeous accent wall that Chip did. image via Magnolia Market
I am going to leave it at this for today, because I could go on and on, but feel free to share your favorite projects and DIYs with me! I hope you will come back and subscribe so that you don’t miss out on all the changes we will be making to our home. I can’t wait to share this process with you all!
Til’ next time!
I remember daydreaming at work about how I wanted to lay out my furniture and the changes I wanted to make when I bought my first house. While it is tough to do all the changes at once, enjoy the process because I swear it never ends! Lol! Congrats!
Thank you Giselle! Never ending day dreaming going on over here lol 😀
Congratulations!!
Thank you! 😀
Love the door and door frame! We are moving in a few months and are looking to buy land and build. My husband wants to build one of those metal barn/ home buildings with stained cement floors. I’ve been eyeing those pole barn homes. So fun to look on Pinterest, isn’t it?
Sounds amazing!! I actually get lost on Pinterest for hours. It is either the best thing in my life or the worst! LOL
Ha ha. I totally understand!
Congrats Holly!! So happy for you. Your mind must be going 100 miles an hour. So many ideas out there, but I’m sure you will do OK…sounds like so much fun. Are you staying in town? How is the shop doing?
Keep in touch!
Yvonne :>)
Thanks Yvonne!! 🙂 We are so excited! Yes, we are staying in town and there is going to be lots of DIYs to do!! The shop is doing well, too!
