I don’t know about you, but I absolutely hate the track pad on my laptop. I can’t man that thing to save my life. I don’t know if it is because it is ultra sensitive, or if I just have heavy fingers, but either way within a day and half of owning a laptop, I made the decision to invest in a wireless mouse. Best 14 bucks I have ever spent!! Okay… maybe not the best 14 bucks, but well worth the money!!! (I have got some pretty sweet shoes for 14 bucks, so it is hard for a mouse to top that…love my shoes!) I have been happily using my mouse, but I just recently realized that I don’t have a mouse pad! I have just been using the corner of my laptop.
And I guess this works okay, but it was time to have a nice mouse pad for my desk. Sure I could of just went and bought one, but why buy when you can DIY!! (ha! that rhymes…sweet!)
So off I went to my favorite store (the dollar store, of course!) in search of something cheap to turn into a mouse pad. Wanna see what I did!? Well that’s good, because I am gonna show you! You can make a cute little mouse pad for your desk, too! It is super easy and only took me about 10 minutes!
Materials
- Cork Trivet
- Felt
- Fabric
- Hot Glue Gun
- Scissors
- Pen or Pencil
- Wine – I was having a wine and craft night, so I apologize for the pic quality 😉
**I always do quick little crafts for wine and craft night. I have a strict no power tool rule for these nights. (For safety reasons — I would like to keep all my digits!)
Step 1
Take your cork trivet and trace around it onto your piece of felt and then cut out your circle.
Step 2
Lay your fabric down wrong side up, and then place your cork trivet in the center. Start folding over your fabric and hot glue it to the trivet. Make sure you pull the fabric nice and tight so that your mouse pad has a smooth surface.
Step 3
Cover your felt circle in hot glue and then secure it to the trivet to cover the cork that is exposed. This will help to keep the fabric in place.
And that’s it! You’re done!! One mouse pad! Super easy and super cheap!
I slip this little pad into my laptop bag and take it with me when I am on the go, too! It also brightens up my desk, which I love!!
