Hey, hey, everybody! How has your week been? It’s Wednesday so that means we’re halfway to the weekend! π Yippee!
To break up your week, I have a great little fall DIY that you can do! It doesn’t cost very much and people will think that you spent big bucks on your fall display!
So, let’s get right into it!
First, take a look at my haul from Dollar Tree…
All this came toΒ about $29! Crazy, right?
But the trick now is to make your dollar store finds look like they didn’t come from the dollar store.
I went totally out of my comfort zone and decided to ditch the traditional fall colours and go for a pastel theme β at least for my fall entry way table.
In order to do this, I needed paint! I picked up these fab little paint from DecoArt. Sometimes, you can even get these little paints at the dollar store, too! They may not have all the colours though. If you want the more pastel colours you may have to go to the craft store.
The colours I used were:
- Light Lime
- Cashmere Beige
- Antique White
- Haven Blue
- White Peach
- Bleached Sand
- Buttermilk
I started with the three larger faux pumpkins that I picked up from Dollar Tree. There is no rhyme or reason to which colours I chose, I just picked what I liked.
Hot tip! When painting things like this, pick up a foam block or ring from Dollar Tree to stick your items into while the paint is drying
Next, I started painting the little gourds.
Once the first coats of paint were dry, I went over them with some Buttermilk. I just used a dry brushing technique. I didn’t want them to look like they were just flat painted.
I also had to do something about the awful faux green stem. I painted the stems with French Grey Blue, just for a bit of a contrasting look without being overwhelming.
Once, they had all dried, I found a nice basket that I had kicking around and put them on display.
Take a look!
I also made this cute little sign out of some scrap wood that I had. Super easy to do! I am thinking that I will do a tutorial for this on my YouTube channel, so make sure you click here to subscribe so you don’t miss it!Β
