My Piano Makeover

Ballet (1).png

Hi, friends! I have something super pretty to share with you all today! This is a makeover that I have wanted to tackle since before we moved, in fact, I had the paint ordered and I was saving it until we got into our new home.

The time has come to share this beauty of a makeover and since I am so excited, I am going to get right to it!

This was my piano before:

I scored this little guy of a buy and sell used goods site for $70.00 about four years ago.

It was a little beat up and scratched, but I didn’t care because I knew I had bigger plans for it.

And my plans involved a little bit of paint from DecoArt. I went with their Americana Chalky Finish brand and the shade I chose was Honor.

Now, I am going to tell you a little secret about this paint – it’s amazing! Seriously, I got four small 8oz containers of this stuff and I only used one and a half!

One and half containers did two full coats on my piano and the bench! Can you believe that!?

I was so shocked – in an amazing kind of way!

This was after one coat.

It was a lot of work painting this old thing, but I have no regrets.

Once I had put on my two coats and let them dry, I went over the edges with a bit of Gold Wax from Country Chic Paint. I LOVE this stuff! It gives your furniture makeovers that whole regal look!

This stuff is so easy to use, too! You just use a soft cloth and just wipe it on. Easy as pie!

For the bench I wanted to do something a little different. I had this really soft faux fur that I scored at a garage sale.

It was actually in a huge and I mean HUGE bag full of fabric scraps that I got for $5!

I cut a piece to fit the top of the bench and then adhered it to the top with a bit of Liquid Nails.

Ready to see it all put together!!??

I also bought a piece of live edge wood that I put on the top of the piano. I scored this piece of wood for $24 from a local market.

This might just be my favorite spot in my home!

You might also notice that we re-did the floors, too! 😉

  1. Wow! Great job! I love the gold accents! Did you paint it black first or is it just the lighting?

    1. Thank you Giselle! No I didn’t paint it black first. Must just be the lighting. This paint is fabulous and goes over almost anything! 😀
