Guys, I am so excited to share this DIY with you!! I have been trying to get it up on the blog all week because I am just so darn proud of it!
I made myself a new coffee table!
I’ve been wanting desperately to replace my coffee table. It’s not that there was anything wrong with it, it’s just that I feel my living room needed a new look.
The hubby and I headed out to my favorite antique market in hopes of finding a coffee table that I could make over.
We saw this little gem and I said to the hubs, that is exactly what I want but I also wanted to make something myself.

And that’s when out of the corner of my eye, I spotted a glass coffee table with a cast iron leg frame.
I looked at my husband and I said, let’s make our own coffee table similar to the one I first saw.
So we scooped up the $35 old coffee table and took it home. I didn’t need the glass portion so we left it at the market.
Now I had to work some DIY magic and make a table top.
Here’s all the wood that I got.
So, for the lumber, I spent about $40.
Using a miter saw, I cut my strips of plywood at a 45-degree angle.

So I started on one side and made my cuts.
There’s a setting on a miter saw to turn it to a 45-degree angle, so it makes doing something like this really easy.
ย Here’s my “puzzle” all put together.
This is where I messed up a little bit.
In case you’re wondering, this is the stain that I used.
Back to the trim.
The trim has bit of overhang on the bottom, but I really liked this look.
Not bad for a little old DIYer like me, right?

And I couldn’t be happier with how this turned out.
My table is a little bit larger, and my angle cuts are wider, but I also didn’t want to copy it exactly.

That is gorgeous !
Thank you!
Looks like a lot of work, how long did it take you? Nice job.
It was act quite easy! Took me about 3 hours. Thank you for your kind comments ๐
I think yours turned out much nicer than the original you photographed. Wonderful job!!
Thank you Mary!
Thank you so much, Mary!
It turned out great! (As I was reading this post, my husband walked by and said “wow, that is cool!”) We made our own coffee table from pallet wood! It is amazing how the coffee table really sets the theme for the room.
Thank you!! ๐ It certainly does!!
Here is an idea that would have made that table really stand out…..you could have taken a propane torch and burned the grain before staining the wood. My dad had done that with a table that he made and with the way he and my mom laid out the plywood before burning and clear coating it, when it was all finished, depending on the angle you looked at it, it looked like there was dark panels in between light panels. I wish I had a photo that I could attach to this post to show you how beautiful it turned out.
Wow! Tammy that sounds gorgeous! Thanks for sharing!
What a beautiful job, how talented you are, love it.
Thank you so much, Carol Anne! ๐
