Hey guys! I have a really fun and punny DIY to share with you today! The best part is — it’s super easy! This makes a great beginner project or even a nice, quick and easy project for a DIY expert just looking to for something to do!
Stenciling is something that I have really gotten into over the last little while, and I have discovered a ton of stencils that I just LOVE from DecoArt.
I especially love their reusable adhesive stencils. I found this really cute cactus one online and I was so ecstatic to create something with it.

But before we get into the project, let’s talk about this burlap bag. This stunning bag is from BurlapFabric.com. BurlapFabric.com is a manufacturer of burlap fabric and burlap accessories as well as a large variety of other fabrics as well. They are family owned and operated company so you know you are going to get top of the line service.
Trust me on this — I run my own company with my mom and we will go above and beyond to make sure our customers are happy.

This bag is high quality and is a really great size. Perfect for groceries, books or could even be used as a stylish everyday bag.
BurlapFabric.com has tons of other materials and items that are perfect for any kind of DIY or crafting project. They also are a great company to look into if you are planning a wedding.
If you want to create a bag just like this, make sure you scoop one because they are on sale right now for 50% off! They are only $9.95! That’s a steal for this tote.
OK, let’s get into the craft! So to begin, I removed my stencil from the plastic backing and placed it in position on my tote.

I decided that I wanted to stencil a line of cactuses along the bottom of the tote.

For this project, I am using the SoSoft line of paints from DecoArt. These paints are perfect for a large variety of fabric painting crafts. They won’t leave your item all hard and crunchy like other paints. SoSoft fabric paints are the softest fabric acrylic on the market.

It is permanent and requires no heat setting. Once dry, it is extremely soft and flexible to the touch. It adheres to all textiles and will not crack, peel, or harden even after repeated use and washings.

For any stenciling projects, I highly recommend the stencil brushes and pouncer sets from DecoArt. You know that old saying, “right tool for the right job” well it really is true.

I moved along stenciling a different cactus each time. I also switched up the colour slightly for each cactus as I wanted some variety.

The paint colors I used were Yellow Green, Hauser Light Green, Avocado Green, Baby Pink Deep and Dark Rose.

After my stenciling was done, I replaced the plastic backing on my stencil.

It’s very important to clean your stencils after each use. I just used a wet wipe. The paint comes off very easily.

I used my Cricut to cut out a punny saying in Heat Transfer Material and then using my heat press, I pressed it onto the bag just above my stenciled cactus.

I love a good pun 😉
I love the detail that really comes through with these stencils.

This punny bag turned out better than I could have imagined and I am so excited to put it to good use!
