Hey folks! Well, we are well on our way into 2018 and I thought I would let you in on a little secret — ok, well it’s not really a secret but it’s something that everyone should know.
I have done some internet research and from what I have read, here are the biggest design trends that you can expect to see this year.
1. Ceiling Details
When it comes to interior design, it’s all about the details and this is something that I have always believed. Why should your ceiling be excluded from that? It shouldn’t so you should expect to see prettier ceilings full of everything from shiplap to crown molding detailing.

2. Brown is back, baby!
Just slow your roll, though if you think that I am saying grey is gone — cause I am totally not! The whole farmhouse grey look is still in and not going anywhere. Grey is timeless and classic. When I say brown I am more referring to finishing touches and the way to do this and do it right is to bring the brown in with the use of natural materials. Leather, wood and even woven baskets are a great start.
3. Hello, Arches!
From doorways to windows and even through-ways, arches are going to be a big thing this year and this is one trend that I am super excited for! It’s just so pretty!
4. No (or little) Upper Cabinetry
When it comes to your kitchen, one trend that is making a statement for 2018 is no (or little) upper cabinetry. If you’re short on storage space, then this may not be the best design feature for your home, but if you’re fortunate enough to have a ton of square footage this look can be a show stopper. Have little to no upper cabinetry really lets your lower cabinets steal the show and provides your kitchen with a light and airy feel.
5. Brass is making a comeback
But it’s bigger and better! I am not talking about those 70s brassy door knobs. Just check out these photos and tell me you wouldn’t want any of these fixtures in your home.
Let me know what you think about these trends in the comments below!
